British Seaside Taxonomic Challenge

The Sluka and Hereward family enjoyed two days of scouring the beaches and tidepools of Cornwall for as many different types of sea creatures as we could find. Besides having loads of fun and getting to know another likeminded family, one of the purposes was to raise awareness of the diversity of marine life that can be found on UK shores. We saw creatures such as sea anemones, fish, and even a bird or two. One memorable find was a rock Sarah Sluka (aged 10) turned over which had a sponge, marine flatworm, and a sea urchin under it When we looked closely, there was a tiny brittle star among the spines of the sea urchin. Not to mention to different types of algae that were on this rock. God is truly amazing in the way that he created the oceans.

We were also fundraising for the Sluka family's trip to A Rocha Kenya this winter. The Sluka family will be helping with marine research and conservation programme for two months. See some of the pictures from the Hereward/Sluka adventure on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/events/412115955507408/
